You know those days when you walk into Boots ‘just to get a few bits’? The next thing you know, you’ve got a basket full to the brim with everything from a hair mask to bubble bath and you’ve had to get a meal deal you’ve been in there so long.
My nemesis is the makeup section. I blimmin’ love seeing all the new brands, products and colours and can quite happily stay for a good hour just looking and trying stuff out. Needless to say, I usually leave with my hand much more colourful and my purse much lighter (why do you do it every time, Boots?! *shakes fist*)
Anyway… while I was meandering round my local store a few weeks ago, I came across Maybelline Super Stay 24:
So, soz if I’m late to the party, but I wasn’t really aware that makeup setting spray existed. I mean, you can put your makeup on, give it a spray and it will stay, all day?!
Before I continue, I should mention that my skin is oilier than the Mona Lisa. No matter what primer, foundation or powder I layer on I ALWAYS have to top up my makeup every couple of hours. Apparently, one day I will be grateful as my wrinkles won’t be as bad… but in the meantime I am single-handedly the highest spender of MAC Studio Fix powder.
I bought the Maybelline Super Stay 24 makeup-locking setting spray (for a bargain price of £5.99) and have been using it for the last couple of weeks. I have to say I’m very impressed. All you do is give it a good shake* and spray it on. It does make your face quite wet, but give it a few minutes and it dries with a smooth matte finish.
*Quick note on the shaking: Do make sure you shake it. One day I didn’t and made my way into the office with little white spots all over my face. Good.
It has definitely done the job and has made a difference to how long my makeup lasts for. I’d go as far to say it’s increased its staying time by about 50%, which for me is amazing.
All in all, a great product that works well and won’t break the bank.
