Olaplex – the miracle treatment for hair

I have discovered a miracle treatment for hair and it’s called Olaplex.

Olaplex

Firstly, let me tell you a little bit about my hair: the only word to describe it perfectly is ‘fluffy’. I envy people who can let their hair dry au naturale and it be smooth. To get my mop even vaguely presentable I have to load it with conditioner, use a smoothing serum and wrestle with a hairdryer for half an hour.  Even then, if there’s any form of wind, rain, moisture or heat I’m back to fluffy in seconds. Y’know Monica’s hair when she goes to Barbados? That’s me.

Looking back, my hair hasn’t always been fluffy. When I was younger, it was really strong and curly. I think all the years I’ve coloured, blow-dried and straightened it to within an inch of its life have finally taken their toll. (Sorry hair).

So, when my hairdresser suggested I try out Olaplex earlier this year, I thought I’d give it a shot. At this time, Olaplex hadn’t long been introduced to salons, so I was intrigued to do my research.

How Olaplex works

Olaplex is a treatment that rebuilds hair strength from the inside, rather than rebuilding it temporarily on the surface like a hair mask. It’s a 3-step system; steps 1 and 2 are done in a salon and step 3 (which is an optional top-up between treatments) can be done at home.

The Olaplex process

Step 1 is applied and brushed in to completely cover the hair for 5 minutes. If you’re having your hair coloured, step 1 can be mixed in with the colour and works in the same way as your colour develops.

Step 2 is applied after your step 1 and/or colour has been washed out. It’s left on unshampooed damp hair for around 10 minutes.

After that, your hair can be washed and styled in the usual way. It’s a speedy treatment with seriously effective results – you’ll be left with shiny, strong hair that stays smooth for weeks afterwards and is perfect for those who love to indulge in bleach highlights or frazzle with straighteners (guilty).

I’ve found the results last for a good couple of months, but if you want to prolong them further you can buy step 3 to use between treatments for £25 on Amazon.

I’ve had Olaplex treatment on my hair the last three times I’ve had it coloured and have noticed such a difference – bye bye fluff, hellooooo smooth!

I had my Olaplex treatment with the wonderful Paris at Aaron Russell in Handcross for £30.

Olaplex is available in other salons across the UK.

I LOVE Olaplex! I’ve only bought the bottle from Amazon and applied it myself so far but it really does work. My mum loves it as well so it passed the mum test! I will have to book for the full treatment at Aaron Russell x
