If y’all are looking for an authentic American dining experience, look no further than Woodie’s Longboard Diner in Hove, near Brighton. From the outside, it looks nothing special, but do not underestimate the juicy burgers and delicious desserts that wait inside.
Woodie’s is the ultimate stars and stripes diner experience, complete with a jukebox, retro décor and a killer menu to satisfy the most hardcore of burger fans. They have a HUGE selection of grub with everything you’d expect from an American diner; sodas, shakes, sundaes, fries and sides.
Their massive choice of food means you need to do two things:
- Go hungry.
- Pace yourself.
You don’t want to stuff your face with a starter and main then have no room for dessert. Equally, you can’t be rushed into gobbling down your food and have no time for dessert. Or, anything else that means you can’t have dessert. (Dessert is very important.)
Me and my date (the husband) started with a sharer, the classic nachos. They arrived piled high with melted cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole and jalapeno’s.
I washed mine down with a stereotypically American blue bubblegum soda.
Now, the main event – here’s what I ate.
Packed with beef, onion rings, crispy bacon and melted cheese, the Hickory burger was a towering plate full of amazingness smothered in BBQ sauce.
Now, I warned you earlier that it’s important to pace yourself at Woodie’s. This is just one of the reasons why:
The gooey hot chocolate brownie is TO DIE FOR.
LOOK AT THE CHOCOLATE DRIPPING OFF IT. Seriously, I was not going to miss out on this.
If this review hasn’t made you hungry, there’s something wrong with you. Don your expandable trousers, jump in your Cadillac and roll down to Woodie’s now.
